Frequently Asked Questions

How do I place a tile?

Tap any empty cell on the board. The tile shown at the left of the NEXT queue drops into that cell. The two smaller tiles to the right are a preview of what's coming next — plan ahead!

Why can't I tap a cell — nothing happens?

Two reasons a tap does nothing:

The cell is occupied. A tile is already there. The existing tile will shake to confirm you tapped it.

The placement would violate a strict lane. Cells highlighted in orange belong to a strict row or column — that lane already contains a tile with the same value you're trying to place. The cell will flash red to signal the conflict. Try a different cell outside the strict lane, or wait for a different tile in your queue.

What are the strict lanes (orange cells)?

Each game randomly picks one row and one column as strict lanes, marked with small arrow indicators on the board edge. A strict lane cannot contain two tiles with the same value at the same time — similar to a Sudoku row or column.

This doesn't mean you can never place a value in that lane — if a merge later removes a copy, the constraint is satisfied again. Plan merges to keep the lane clear.

How does merging work?

When you place a tile, any adjacent tiles (up, down, left, right) with the same value are absorbed into the placed tile. The result value doubles for each neighbor absorbed:

1 neighbor → ×2  |  2 neighbors → ×4  |  3 neighbors → ×8  |  4 neighbors → ×16

If the new merged tile itself has matching neighbors, those merge too — this is a chain. Each step in the chain scores a multiplier bonus.

What is a CHAIN and how does scoring work?

A chain happens when a merge produces a tile that immediately triggers another merge. The score multiplier increases with each step:

Step 1 scores normally. Step 2 scores ×2. Step 3 scores ×3, and so on. Setting up chains is the main skill ceiling of the game — a 4-step chain can score dramatically more than four separate placements.

A CHAIN ×N banner appears above the board when a chain of two or more steps occurs.

When does the game end?

The game ends when there is no legal placement for the next tile in your queue — either the board is completely full, or every empty cell would violate the strict-lane constraint for that tile's value.

Tip: keep at least one strict-lane cell free for low-value tiles, and try to trigger merges before the board fills up.

How do I reset my progress / start a new game?

When the game ends, tap anywhere on the game-over screen to start a fresh game immediately. Your best score is always saved locally.

To clear all local data, uninstall and reinstall the app. If you have a cloud save account, your high score will sync back on next sign-in.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open the in-app settings and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID or Google account — as long as you're signed in with the same account used to buy, your entitlements (e.g., remove ads) will be restored at no charge.

If Restore Purchases doesn't work, contact us at support@kimelogic.com and include your order number from Apple or Google.
